Are You Constantly Punishing Yourself for Mistakes or Slip-Ups?

It takes an awful lot of courage to completely dedicate yourself
to a healthy lifestyle or a specific weight loss goal.

Don't punish yourself for mistakes or slip-ups. Perhaps you indulged a bit too much last night at Happy Hour or at dinner. Maybe you decided to trade your usual morning exercise routine for an extra hour or two of sleep.  So what?

You haven't completely blown it and you definitely are NOT a failure!

Do not give it a second thought. Focusing on what you think you did wrong or getting angry at yourself, does nothing to inspire and motivate you and can actually set you up for failure! So...STOP

The moment those types of thoughts enter your brain - DISMISS THEM!
Tell yourself you will try again later or tomorrow!

Treat yourself the way you would treat that one person you care for
more than anyone else in the world!
With love. Patience. Grace. Understanding.

The #1 Secret for Weight loss? Get Rid of Your Scale!

There was a time when I used to step on the scale EVERY day to check my weight. Sometimes, several times a day.  I was terrified of gaining unwanted pounds and whatever number registered on that stupid scale would often dictate my mood, my attitude and my opinion of myself.  If it read one ounce OVER what I considered to be my IDEAL weight, I would starve myself until that number on the scale went right back to where I needed it to be.

How silly is that?  And so unhealthy for my body, mind and spirit.

When a client comes to me for help with weight loss, one of the first things I tell them is to get rid of their scale! Toss it, store it another room, or hide it somewhere in the back of a closet, garage or basement. A scale is the most discouraging, depressing and damaging weight loss tool ever created! All it does is teach you to measure your worth by a number that you came up with or someone else dictated that you must achieve in order to be successful.  Most of the time, that number is unattainable. Or at the very least, impossible to keep for very long with changing.

Think about what that does to your self-esteem.............

You are constantly changing. Your body changes - after childbirth, with age, with activity or lack of it. Your weight also changes. DAILY. It often depends on how much or how little you eat, but your weight can also be affected by other factors like stress, hormones, emotions and things that are beyond your control.  There are other ways to determine if you are losing or gaining weight without beating yourself up over numbers!

Do yourself a favor and ditch the scale. It's useless. If you're interested in PERMANENT weight loss, the only way to do that is to learn to accept and love yourself EXACTLY as you are RIGHT NOW and refuse to be driven by a specific weight that registers on a scale.

I am here to provide practical and personalized advice and assistance on your journey toward Health, Wellness and PERMANENT Weight Loss. Contact me today and let's chat.......

Change Your Thoughts, Change Your Body!

I think this little cartoon is hysterical.

And yes, it's true, we are what we eat. This doesn't just apply to food. We eat our own thoughts: about life, about the world, about others, and most importantly, about ourselves.

We are the sum of our thoughts. In other words, what we think we are is what we become in reality.

The most crucial component to successful weight loss is changing your way of thinking.

STOP THINKING OF YOURSELF AS FAT!!

Are you overweight? Can you stand to take off a few pounds? It really doesn't matter how much you need to lose: ten, twenty, fifty, a hundred pounds!

We all gain weight for different reasons: stress, illness, medication, hormones, boredom, depression, a broken heart.

So what can we do about it?

Step #1:
Forgive yourself. You've gained weight. So what? You can lose it. You can take off those excess pounds by reducing fat and calories, adding more fruits and veggies to your diet, and by squeezing some kind of exercise into your day. Every day! You don't have to live in the gym. Walk. Take a bike ride. Play sports. Go swimming. Work in the garden. Go out dancing. Have sex. Anything that gets you up off the couch or away from your desk and gets your body moving and the blood flowing counts as exercise!  DO IT!!

When you continously punish yourself for gaining weight, you get caught in a trap; an endless cycle of constant failure. You become more consumed with the fact that you've put on the weight rather than focusing on actually losing it. Forgive yourself and move on!

Step #2:
Lose the fat mentality. Stop talking about it. Stop thinking of yourself as fat. Stop telling yourself you are fat. Stop referring to yourself as fat. Stop telling others you are fat. Stop joking about being fat. Stop looking in the mirror and seeing yourself as fat. Avoid mirrors for awhile if you must. Yes, it's true, you are overweight. You already know it's unhealthy and you look and feel much better without those extra pounds. Fat is only a symptom but it is not who you are. Got it? FAT IS NOT WHO YOU ARE!!

THIS IS WHO YOU ARE:
a beautiful, lovely, magnetic, amazing, evolving, sexy, healthy, happy, gorgeous creation.

Start telling yourself that. Over and over until you believe it. Then watch what happens.

Change your thoughts. Change your body. It really is that simple...............
