The Passionate Pomegranate

Consider the pomegranate. Just look at gorgeousness of this fruit. On the outside; pomegranates are not much to look at.  Most folks walk right past them. They have no idea what they are missing. Once you cut a pomegranate in half; its true beauty is revealed. Hidden within are hundreds of ruby red seeds that remind me of rare, sparkling jewels. All those seeds are filled the sweetest liquid ever tasted.

I consider the pomegranate to be an amazing and very sexy fruit. And, if you're looking for passion; share one with a lover.  The pomegranate is symbolic for fertility, prosperity, passion, fruitfulness and promise. In Hindu, it is a metaphor for a woman's mind. It is derived from, maadhu=woman, ullam=mind, which means as the seeds are hidden, it is not easy to decipher a woman's mind.

Hmm.....

Pomegranates are bursting with nutrition. They contain Vitamin C, folate, potassium, and Vitamin K.  Their gorgeous red color makes them a very balancing fruit, so if you feel shaky or insecure; try eating more pomegranates.

Pomegranates can also help promote heart health and protect against prostrate cancer. They are loaded with antioxidants. And...for centuries, pomegranates have been known and used as Natural Viagra.  They actually help with blood flow. Uh-huh.

Ladies, feed these to your men.

Pomegranates are available year 'round, but I recommend eating them when they are actually in season. September is the best time to enjoy them. You can also drink pomegranate juice. I mix it with sparkling mineral water and sip it like a cocktail. Watch out for brands with added sugar. Those will just add unwanted calories. You can also try a mixture of blueberry and pomegranate juices. Just a little glass everyday provides vitamins and plenty of antioxidants.

Of course, I believe the best way to reap the true benefits, is to eat the actual fruit. Most people find this a bit tedious because to truly enjoy a pomegranate, you must invest a bit of time and effort. It is not like biting into a peach and experiencing that instant gratification of luscious sweetness. The pomegranate needs a bit of coaxing, but it is so worth it.  It's a sensual experience;  like passion.....best savored slowly.
